How it works
01
Decide if you want to be paid or volunteer with us.
We value professionals who hone their craft. In the U.S., we know that interpreters and therapists often work for very reduced fees, especially when working with vulnerable populations such as refugees and migrants. That is why we want to pay you. We may not be able to pay your full fee but we will pay you both equally. If you'd like to volunteer instead, we won't say no to that!
02
How do I find clients?
Clients will come to you (the therapist or interpreter) through our directory (coming soon). Once they've made contact, the therapist and interpreter will confer and offer available times to the client. We invite the interpreter to take the lead in communications especially if the client needs to communicate in the target language. As we grow, we will work to make scheduling easier using our platform.
03
Which telehealth platform should I use in the meantime?
Absolutely use a HIPAA compliant platform. Many companies offer these platforms and we're not inclined to suggest any one in particular. However, there are few of these teletherapy platforms that offer an interpretation function. This function, when it's available, allows the interpreter to "drive" so that the output is what the listener needs. Take a look at a <4 minute video that demonstrates this.
04
How do I get paid?
You will submit an invoice to us in our membership portal so that we can direct deposit the fee into your account. When you sign up with us, you will be provided with the necessary paperwork to be a contractor for Kin-nection.
